Women City Builders - Honoring Women's Civic Contributions to Portland

Portland’s Walk of the Heroines

Portland’s Walk of the Heroines is a garden park dedicated to recognizing women’s vital contributions to culture and society. The project was initiated by faculty, students and staff in the Women’s Studies program at Portland State University who worked with volunteers and supporters in the community to realize this vision. Any individual, group or organization may honor their heroines whose names will be engraved on walls that curve through the garden.Creating a beautiful space for our campus and our city, Portland’s Walk of the Heroines will inspire and educate. The stories and pictures of heroines honored will be displayed in an educational kiosk in the garden. The educational kiosk will also contain information about women’s contributions past and present.

Portland Women City Builders is just one of many educational resources that will be available in the educational kiosk and on the Portland’s Walk of the Heroines website.
